2. Solution details
This FAQ will allow you to enable a secure https connection to the controller. Please be advised that the controller may stop or reboot during this process.
2.1 Generate HTTPS certificate from the controller web browser
- Launch controller WBM
- Connect to the controller through the unsecure network
- Advanced > proceedto ... (unsafe)
- Login with Admin role
- Under Configuration, select Web Services
- Under Subject Alternative Name enter the IP address of the controller
- Select the Type of Subject Alternative Name as 'IP Address'
- Click on Re-generate HTTPS certificate.
- Acknowledge the warning message by clicking on 'Generate'
- A message appears, "The self-signed HTTPS certificate was successfully regenerated!"
- Click on Apply at the bottom right corner of the Web Services configuration screen.
- Connection to the controller may temporarily be lost.
2.2 Export and Install Certificate in Windows
- Reconnect to the controller through the unsecured network
- Advanced > proceed to ... (unsafe)

Note:If the user has changed the IP address after generating an HTTPS certificate and wants to follow this application note for the new IP address, it may be possible that they don't get an option to proceed to .. (unsafe). In this case, you can skip this step to reconnect to the controller and
continue from the next step.
- Click on the browserNot Secure site information button (The example image below uses Chrome web browser)
- Select "Certificate is not Valid"
- Select Details tab from the Certificate Viewer dialog box.
- Click the Export button from the bottom right corner of the dialog box.
- Save to download the file to a directory on your computer and close the dialog.
- In Windows Explorer, navigate to the file (iC9200 Series HTTPS) and double-click to open it

- Select Local Machine > Next and accept confirmation from User Account Control
- Select "Place all certificates in the following store"
- Click on browse and select "Trusted Root Certification Authorities"
- Click OK
- Press Next on the Certificate Import Wizard
- Complete the installation by pressing Finish.
- The "Import successful" dialog box may appear.
- Click OK and close the Certificate dialogue
2.3 Re-connect to the controller through a secure HTTPS network
- Close all tabs and instances of the web browser, then re-launch your web browser
- The 'not secure' site information button will no longer be visible on the web browser.
