Networking
The engineering discipline "networking" includes the following tasks:
- PLANT structuring: modeling the device network
The device network of your application is reflected in the PLANT in iCube Engineer. By structuring this tree, the communication network is modeled. Structuring means inserting the devices as nodes into the tree.
iCube Engineer provides several methods for structuring the PLANT:
- Scanning the network using the 'Physical Topology' editor

Controller/device Configuration
Once the required devices are inserted in the PLANT, they have to be parameterized and configured.
After inserting devices into the PLANT and configuring/parameterizing them, the resulting device/configuration data are included into the project image when building the project. By writing the project image to the controller, the configuration is transferred to the devices.
