FoE' tab (EtherCAT Slave Online Functions)

This editor tab is only available for an EtherCAT slave station.

The tab provides the possibility to download a file to or upload a file from the slave. This could be, for example, a firmware update. The data transfer is done using mailbox communication via the protocol File-Access over EtherCAT (FoE). This communication is possible while the slave is in the Bootstrap state.

The tab is divided into two sections:

'FoE Download' defines the settings for transferring a file from the master to the currently selected slave station.
'FoE Upload' defines the settings for transferring a file from the currently selected slave station to the master.

Fill in the dialog fields and then press the corresponding button below the input fields to start the file transfer.

By entering a different file name under 'Local Filename' and 'Slave Filename', a file can be "renamed" during the transfer between your local harddisk and the slave file system.

Note
The file name in the slave file system might be device-specific. Please consult the device manual for information and naming conventions.
