This application note shows how to add an external encoder axis with the 050-1BA10 counter module.

3. Solution details
Add the 050-BA10 module to the plant. In the example below, the module is added to the slicebus node. Open the parameter tab of the module. Set the signal evaluation to the desired mode. In this example, the user chooses to use the module in AB quadrature mode.
A motion axis is automatically generated with the 050-1BA10 module. Make sure that the motion axis is linked to the module in the axis/Options page as shown below. The resolution of the attached encoder module also needs to be specified. If any transmission details need to be added, this can be done in the Axis/Configuration tab.
Use the MC_ReadActualPosition function block from the Y_PLCopenPart1_Toolbox to verify that the encoder input is being correctly displayed.
